2-10-2011 Fitz & the Tantrums @ Bunker’s

When I sense a band is destined for greatness & maintains a powerfully resonant fun vibe live, I am rarely wrong.  This is essentially how I feel about Fitz & the Tantrums.

For full disclosure, I must say I experienced them the day before at the Electric Fetus for a deeply spirited romp of a show.  More than a set. Beyond an in-store.  Stunning.

Bunker’s was sold out packed & the band thundered out their show before a revved up excitable dancefloor.  F&TT ripped up their sensory satisfying set with songs off their record “Pickin’ up the Pieces” (Merge).  For the lively encore “Moneygrabber”, the band coaxed the crowd (who were already eager to please) down all the way low to the floor & then massively climaxing into a final swirl of sweet soul fueled fervor & full frontal funk.

This charming ensemble is brimming with passion & driving impulsive seductive groove.  Though I’m no Nostradamus, I predict they will be busting out more to the national scene soon.  I personally & wholeheartedly wish Fitz & the Tantrums much success in music & life.
